Minot

At the age of 82, DeNae Annette ( Christianson ) Thompson passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 23, 2023, at her home in Minot, North Dakota.

On January 18, 1941, Roy and Edith ( Johnson ) Christianson gave birth to DeNae in Kenmare, North Dakota. DeNae, one of eight siblings, grew up on the home land in Kenaston, North Dakota. She attended Kenmare High School before graduating in 1959.

DeNae pursued coursework in administrative studies at Minot State University. She relocated to St. Paul, Minnesota, after school to work for the Red Cross with her best pal Sonja. Eventually, they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado’s Red Cross business. Ronald Thompson, her father who was also raised in North Dakota, was there when she first met him. They fell in love, and on October 3rd, 1964, they got married. In 1968, Ron and DeNae went back to North Dakota. They made Minot their home and raised their four kids there.

DeNae devoted her day to raising her kids and taking care of her family household after relocating to Minot. She assisted with school activities and Girl Scouts while providing care services to the local people. She was best known for her deft sewing abilities. Any clothes may be made or repaired by her. To name a few, she created stunning marriage and prom attire, doll clothing, quilts, and furnishings. She delighted in going to lunch with her friends and playing in her neighborhood ball club. On Friday mornings, Ron and DeNae ate and danced at the Eagles Club.

When her youngest boy, Trevor, passed away in a boating accident in 1998, tragedy befell the home. His passing permanently altered the family, but they relied on one another for support and solace during this trying occasion.

DeNae hardly ever sat however. She would be reading, cooking, gardening, or working on the daily crossword if she were n’t sewing. She and Ron built their ideal house on Lake Metigoshe after retiring because she enjoyed spending time at the community room there.

The Thompson community groups were often hosted by DeNae and Ron. DeNae would prepare a lavish dinner throughout the day before breaking out cards to play” May I”? DeNae continues to hold the family history for” May I’s” best match. with a flawless 0.

In 2014, Ron and DeNae went back to Minot, where she stayed until she passed away.

Courtney and Cassidy Grumman, Maddie ( Alex ), Tyler, McKenna, and Rylan Thompson were her grandchildren. Marilyn Rostad, Kathy ( Joe ) Bower, Gary Christianson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was survived by her husband, Ron Thompson.

Trevor Thompson, her brother, preceded her in passing. Roy and Edith Christianson were her parents, and she had relatives Gordon and Lyle, Lavern Miller, Valoraye Frantsvog, a brother-in-law named Evron Rostad and an attorney named Erica Thompson.

Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., memorial services. in Minot at Christ Lutheran Church.

Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, North Dakota, is the place of burial.
